Secession.

I was reading a Wikipedia article on various proposals for state secession in US history, and found this bit of info funny:

Kentucky

In the 1950s, Letcher County, Kentucky threatened to secede from the state, demanding better roads in the area.
The threats subsided when Governor A.B. Chandler indicated that he didn't care.

That's one way to end a squabble, I guess.
